Historical Landmarks

Founded in 1728, Goochland County has a rich history and is home to 27 historical sites that are either registered on the National or State Register for Historic Places. These sites provide residents and tourists with great entertainment and educational opportunities. Sites include historic plantations, like Historic Tuckahoe, the boyhood home of Thomas Jefferson; the Dover Slave Quarter Complex, one of Virginia's surviving groupings of slave quarters; and multiple historic mansions built during the 1800s.
